Initially, the library was in the village of Youth at the House of Culture. In October 1966, she moved to a building on one of the first streets of the city under construction (Kosmonavtov St., 3) and became the City Library No. 1.
On July 10, 1970, by the decision of the executive committee, library No. 1 was transformed into the Central Library with the functions of a methodological center for all libraries of the city.
In 1989, the Central City Hospital moved to a new building on ul. Pushkin, built specifically for the library. (Not a commercial project)
