Sultanahmet, or Old Town, is the oldest part of Istanbul, located near the European part of the place between the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Marmur Sea. The Old Town has such important monuments as the St. Sophia Cathedral (also known as the Hagia Sophia Mosque) and the ensemble of the Topkapi Palace.
