San Marco3

by Рыжова Елена

The symbol of Venice is the winged lion. The image of a lion with wings is also present on the flag of the Italian navy. The winged lion is also called the Lion of St. Mark. The relics of this evangelist have been in Venice since 829, attracting crowds of pilgrims to the city. Apparently this is why the Lion of St. Mark became a symbol of Venice. the “San Marco” series proposes the aesthetics of Istrian limestone, which is used to pave the square in front of the Doge’s Palace.
