Ivanova Gora

Among the sacred places of Buryatia there are many shrines related to the Orthodox religion. One of these is the mountain in the village of Ilyinka of the Pribaikalsky region. This is the mountain of John the Baptist, the saint, who, according to the scriptures, is the god of the Lord.

Just three years ago, a blue man-made symbol of visiting its peak appeared on the Ilyinsky mountain - a gazebo, not far from which a metal white cross was installed. This is a place of mass pilgrimage for Orthodox believers not only from Ilyinka and nearby villages, but also from all over Buryatia. Even residents of other regions come here.

Those who are not familiar with the culture of Orthodoxy, in their own way, call Mount John the mountain of fulfillment of desires. More often, women who want to have children visit the place, and those who are simply looking for peace of mind and reassurance.
