by Булат Чимитов

The Pitatelevsky spring is the closest source of geothermal waters to the capital of the republic. It is located 54 kilometers from Ulan-Ude, on the left bank of the Selenga River in the village of Ilyinka. Since December 1981, by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR No. 378, the source has been protected.

The source is named in honor of the doctor A.L. Pitatelev, who was one of the first researchers of its healing properties. The outlet of the thermal baths is confined here to the channel and the left bank of the Selenga River. Water reserves are 1,987 cubic meters per day. Some of the wells gush with water with a temperature of up to 70 ° C. Hydrotherms have a sulfate chloride-sulfate sodium composition with a salinity of 1.7-2.0 g / l and a silicic acid content of 100-200 mg / l.

Water treatments in the pool filled with healing water will allow you to rest, relax and improve your health. Irrigation, swimming in the pool are especially recommended for the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous and other systems of the body, for skin diseases, including psoriasis and neurodermatitis, due to the excellent soothing and antibacterial effect, normalization of the water-lipid balance.

The healing properties of mineral water have been known to the local population since the end of the 19th century; Nowadays, the thermal spring in Ilyinka is used for recreational swimming in an outdoor hot pool measuring 10 by 15 meters and up to 1.5 meters deep. But it should be borne in mind that there are strict contraindications to the use of thermal waters: any diseases in the acute stage, malignant neoplasms, hypertension of a high degree of complication, a history of myocardial infarction, bronchial asthma with frequent attacks, pregnancy for more than five months.
