Konyaev Arkady Nikolaevich. Born on January 23, 1919 in the settlement of Nadezhdinsky Zavod (now the city of Serov) in the Yekaterinburg province. In 1936, after graduating from secondary school No. 22, he worked as an accountant at a locomotive depot and in the city council of physical education and sports. In 1937, he graduated from the flying club, and in 1938, from the school of civil air fleet pilots in Balashov. In 1939, he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the Perm Aviation School, and then transferred to the Stalingrad Aviation School. That same year, he was awarded the rank of junior lieutenant. In 1942, he was transferred to Chita. In 1943, he was sent to the Voronezh Front, where he completed advanced training courses for command staff. On August 12, 1943, Konyaev made his first combat sortie, and on August 20 of the same year, he shot down three enemy aircraft. In 1944, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation of the highest award of the USSR - the Order of Lenin, the Gold Star medal and a certificate of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In 1952, he suffered a spinal injury and became a Group I disabled person of the Soviet Army. Despite this, he retained his inherent fighting spirit, will, and energy for many years. In 1985, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Serov" for courage and heroism shown during the Great Patriotic War, and great public work on patriotic education of youth.
