Boris Petrovich Kirpikov was born on July 24, 1919, in the village of Filkino, Verkhotursky district (now Sverdlovsk region). He studied at schools No. 4, 17 and 22 in the city of Nadezhdinsk - now Serov. In 1938-1940, he studied at the Leningrad Artillery School, which he graduated in 1940 with the rank of lieutenant. In 1940-1942, he served as a platoon commander in the 52nd artillery regiment in the Far East. In 1942-1943, he was the chief of staff of the 1137th artillery regiment. In April 1943, his regiment was transferred to the front in the Kursk Bulge area, where he took part in the battles up to Berlin. In 1945, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for breaking through to the Berlin motorway near the town of Blumberg and for his personal courage in battle. From 1945 to 1950, he served in Germany; from 1951 to 1956, he studied at the Dzerzhinsky Military Academy, and then served as chief of staff of an anti-aircraft missile regiment, deputy commander of an air defense corps, and commander of the 10th air defense corps. From 1975 to 1978, he was on a special mission to Cuba. He retired in 1979. He was awarded 30 state awards, including the medals "For the Victory over Germany", "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Capture of Berlin", "For Military Merit", as well as the Polish medal "For the Oder, Nisa and the Baltic", two Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Red Star, the Order of Suvorov 3rd degree, two Orders of the Patriotic War 1st degree, the Order of the October Revolution, two Orders of the Arab Republic of Egypt, two Orders of the Republic of Cuba and the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. In memory of B. P. Kirpikov, the collections "Golden Stars of Sverdlovsk", "Hero of the Soviet Union B. P. Kirpikov" and "Heroes of the City of Serov" were published. A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of School No. 22. In 1985, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Serov"
