Virtual tour: Badary Siberian Solar Radio Telescope. SSRT is a specialized solar radio telescope designed to study solar activity in the microwave range (5.7 GHz). The Siberian Solar Radio Telescope SSRT is one of the largest astronomical instruments. It is located in a forested, picturesque valley separating two mountain ranges of the Eastern Sayans, at a distance of 220 km from Irkutsk. This is a cross-shaped interferometer consisting of two lines of 128x128 parabolic antennas 2.5 meters in diameter, installed equidistantly with a step of 4.9 meters and oriented in the directions east-west and north-south.
