by Андрей Вершинин

SSRT is a specialized solar radio telescope designed to study solar activity in the microwave range (5.7 GHz). The Siberian Solar Radio Telescope SSRT is one of the largest astronomical instruments. It is located in a picturesque valley covered with forest, dividing the two mountain ranges of the Eastern Sayan Mountains, at a distance of 220 km from Irkutsk. This is a cross-shaped interferometer, consisting of two lines of 128x128 parabolic antennas with a diameter of 2.5 meters, mounted equidistantly with a step of 4.9 meters and oriented east-west and north-south.
