Butakovsky waterfall - VisitAlmaty

Name history: According to one version, the gorge and, as a result, the waterfall got its name in honor of Butakov, the commander of the Cossack unit, which was located here in the 1860s and was engaged in the protection of the forest. By analogy, Medeu was named after the volost third village of Medeu Pusurmanov. In those days, the names of the first settlers often became the names of the gorges.
