The official name of the so-called Mars is the Poldnevsky section of the Troitsko-Bainovsky refractory clay deposit. The quarry occupies an area of about 70 sq. km and is the largest in terms of reserves in the Middle Urals. The similarity to Mars is given to it by the forms in which the clay solidifies, as well as its color range. Clay mounds appear as ridges of various sizes. The water washes away the clay, creating canyons and crevices. There are also internal dumps on the territory. However, unlike the distant planet, on the Ural Mars one can find water, albeit an unusual color for the eye: from the tempting sky blue to crimson red and orange.
