The Ascension Church in Krasnaya Sludka was founded on October 4, 1853 and completed in 1859. The church was consecrated on October 3, 1859. The church was built with funds from princes S. M. Golitsyn and V. P. Butero-Rodali in memory of those who died in the Crimean War. There is a version that the architect of the building was I. I. Sviyazev, who graduated from the Moscow Academy of Arts. The temple is a brick single-altar church in the Russian-Byzantine style.
