Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky

by Deaton Aerials

The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky, located right on the HCTC Highway 15 Campus, is a premier, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). As the first center of its kind to serve a rural region, this highly interactive facility allows students, educators, and community teams to "fly" fully immersive, simulated space missions.

The center features three main, interconnected simulation zones:

Mission Control Center: Modeled directly after NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where team members monitor telemetry, solve critical engineering problems, and communicate directly with the crew in real time.

The Transporter/Space Shuttle: An immersive transition zone that replicates the thrill of traveling from Earth's surface into the depths of space.

Spacecraft & Space Station Simulator: A hands-on laboratory environment where participants conduct scientific experiments, operate robotic arms, and assemble deep-space probes.

Having recently undergone major technological and software platform upgrades, the Challenger Learning Center stands as a forward-looking anchor on the campus—sparking curiosity, promoting teamwork, and elevating perspectives for future scientists and engineers across the region.
