Linda is the heroine of the Estonian folk epic Kalevipoeg, mourning for her dead son. According to legend, Mount Toompea, where Vyshgorod is located, is the grave of an Estonian hero, and the figure of his mother, cast in bronze, has become the personification of the sorrow of the whole people.
