Kolomna Institute (branch) of the Moscow State Polytechnic University Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education

The Institute was created by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated May 25, 1955 No. 1015 “On Additional Measures to Streamline the Training of Specialists with Higher Education” as the Kolomna Branch of the Moscow Evening Machine-Building Institute (since 1962, the Kolomna Branch of the Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering).

By order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the RSFSR of August 16, 1963 No. 524, the Kolomna branch of the Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering was transferred to the All-Union Correspondence Polytechnic Institute (VZPI).

By Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of February 20, 1992 No. 101 “On the Transformation of the All-Union Correspondence Polytechnic Institute” into the Moscow State Open University, the branch was renamed the Kolomensk branch of Moscow State Open University.

By order of the Ministry of General and Professional Education of the Russian Federation dated May 18, 1998 No. 1194, the Kolomna branch of Moscow State Open University was renamed the Kolomna Institute (branch) of Moscow State Open University.

By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of October 11, 2011 No. 2458 Kolomna Institute (branch) of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Moscow State Open University" was renamed the Kolomna Institute (branch) of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Moscow State Open University Chernomyrdin.

Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated 20.12.2012 N 1074 "On the Reorganization of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education" Moscow State Engineering University (MAMI) ", the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education" Moscow State Open University named after V.S. Chernomyrdin "and the federal state budgetary institution of higher education" Moscow State Evening Metallurgical Institute "Kolomensky Institute (branch) of the Moscow State Open University named after V.S. Chernomyrdin is attached to the Moscow State Engineering University (MAMI) and renamed the Kolomensky Institute (branch) Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education I am Moscow State Engineering University (MAMI) in Kolomna, Moscow Region.

In accordance with the order of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science dated March 21, 2016, the Moscow Polytechnic University was created in Moscow through a reorganization in the form of a merger of the University of Mechanical Engineering (MAMI) and the Ivan Fedorov Moscow State Press University (MGUP), the structure of which, as a branch, included the Kolomensky Institute.

During its existence, the university made a significant contribution to the development of the military-industrial complex of the south-eastern region of the Moscow region, having trained more than 12 thousand specialists. Today, more than 50% of engineering and engineering of basic enterprises: OJSC Kolomensky Zavod and NPK Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering are graduates of the Kolomensky Institute.

The origins of the creation of the Institute were prominent Russian weapons designers, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Hero of Socialist Labor B.I. Shavyrin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Hero of Socialist Labor S.P. Invincible, Soviet statesman and military leader, major general of the engineering and artillery service N.E. Nosovsky and director of the Kolomensky plant V.N. Pashin. Over the years, famous scientists, doctors of technical sciences, professors, twice laureate of the USSR State Prize in the field of science and technology, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR E.A. worked at the university. Nikitin, Honored Designer of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the State Prize M.A. Saltykov, N.T. Romanenko, N.N. Ovechnikov, F.I. Pinsky, A.I. Khutsiev, D.A. Dekhovich, A.I. Belyaev, etc.

The formed traditions are supported by the currently working faculty of the institute.
