The school was opened in 1893 by the owner of the weaving factory GK Gorbunov as a single-class, and then a two-year school of the Ministry of Education. 47 students studied with one teacher. After the 1917 revolution, the school was transformed into a first-grade school (grades 1–4), and then into a seven-year school. Before the Great Patriotic War, the school became an average. During the war years, the school housed a hospital, classes went to other buildings in the city. During its existence, the school changed the numbering: school No. 3, women's secondary school No. 4. In the 1952-1953 school year, by decision of the City Executive Committee, the school was assigned No. 8.    The school has always been a strong teaching staff: at different times, teachers who were awarded government orders and medals and the “Excellence in Public Education” sign worked here. At the same time, in the 7th years, three honored teachers of Russia worked at the school: LD Primary School teacher. Korenkova, chemistry teacher V.A. Magazinov, physics teacher, school director A.A. McLashin. During the existence of the school, 43 graduates graduated from school with gold and silver medals.    The school twice - in 1990 and in 2001 - became a participant and winner of the regional competition “School of the Year”.
